Little Miss Southern

I picked up the new Southern Lady today, the Christmas version! I love it, the decorating ideas are a fresh take on traditional ideas without clashing with the yearly seasonal traditions. There are even gift ideas for everyone you would want to spend money on. Also the cutest candy cane and peppermint recipes I've ever come across. If you want to pick up Southern Lady I got it in Walmart at the check out.

Walk Though the Leaves

I'm kicking myself for not bring my camera to Skaneateles. The leaves were laying in the strreets like a fresh dusting of fiery snow. Even as his mom and I walked through the town dainty leaves swirled down from the trees all around us. We at lunch at Angel's Heavenly Burgers, might I just add it was delicious. I absolutely gorged myself. After a fantastic lunch, we hopped a crossed the street to Skaneateles Jewelry to "window shop" She looked around and tried a few things on as I trailed behind and complemented her wonderful taste. Then we got to the pearl section. I don't know about you girls but whenever I walk past a jewelry case of pearls my jaw just drops. I gaped at them like Nemo on denstists tools and mentioned that I had owned a set of pearls but my sister stole them and broke them when I was younger. Much to my dismay we drifted away from the case of pearls to look at some chains. On the way out we passed the pearls case and she asked to see the pearl earrings up close. She told me to try on the 4mm pair. I was not going to say no, so I put them in my ears. They looked alittle small to her so she said well why don't you try the 5mm. They were stunning. She asked if I liked them, what was I going to say no? they're pearls for crips sake I was already in love with them. Then she said Happy Birthday. I couldn't believe it. Even my own Mother didn't get me pearls for my birthday. I guess she really must like me.

A Hidden Gem

My mom came up to upstate NY for a visit and she wanted to meet my bf and I for lunch. She suggested this place called Zebbs which I had never heard of before. We pulled in and the parking lot was a dingy shade of gray and there was a run down old boarded up movie theater shoved in the corner. At first we were afraid to go inside but our fear subsided as soon as we stepped to the other side of the door. Zebbs is set up like a cute old burger joint with sacks of potatoes stacked up waist high near the door; apparently aging to make the perfect french fry. It smelled heartily of fresh cookies and burgers, and oldies played in the background. All the burgers are amazing and there is a huge buffet of toppings for them. Also the french onion soup is not to go untasted. The cookies however, are the whole reason I returned before the weekend was over, they are called chocolate chunk cookies, and they are incredible. The come to you in a box of six, warm. They are the kind of cookie you absolutely must eat with milk so don't forget to order some with your cookies! Here is their website because I know you want to check it out for yourself!

Annie the Nanny

Trying to satisfy my hunger for entertainment in this city I went to my local blockbuster and tried to decide on a movie. I finally settled on The Nanny Diaries and I'm glad I did. I laughed, I cried, and I was absolutely charmed by the whimsical similarities to Mary Poppins! It takes place in the upper east side with a beatiful setting and a finely decorated appartment. Music was well chosen and the script is anything but corny. If ever you stumble upon this movie, watch it, and then watch it again.

Airline "Bliss"

I recently when on vacation to NY with my boyfriend to spend time with my friends from back home. I flew with US Airways on the flight there and their performance was well, mediocre. I didn't get any free nuts on the plane. But we got the Syracuse alive and on time and had a great weekend. On the way back however was a different story. We got to the airport on time and were told that our plane was delayed 5 hours. I have waited for planes before so this was nothing new. I kept myself occupied until midnight when we were told that our flight was completely canceled. Thankfully my boyfriends parents house is right in town and his father was awake to come pick us up. The next day we got to the airport an hour and a half early at 5 am as advised by the person from United Airlines who rescheduled our tickets to US Airlines. The airport was completely flooded. By the time we got to security we had 30 min to get on the plane. We were told before we even put our carry ons on the belt that we had been selected for extra security screening, so they put us in a separate line to be patted down and have our bags searched through by hand. As much as I support our country and airport security I don't think that we should have been subjected to such treatment that almost made us miss our flight just because the airline screwed up!

Great New Magazine

I was picking up some sushi from my local Harris Teeter (the souths version of Wegmans) and in the checkout line I noticed this cute little magazine sitting all alone on the rack. It's called Southern Lady. Presentation was phenomenal and the content is sweet, cute, and informative, which is pretty much everything I am looking for in a magazine. Even the adds were well chosen and geared towards the classy southern woman.

Living In NC

Alright, so I recently moved from upstate NY to Raleigh NC. What a culture shock! I've never seen so many rude, greedy, mean people in my life. The city of Raleigh is definitely not the city for me. I have however found an outlet in spending my mommy's money <3 so I guess as long as I can get someone to take me out to eat and to shop I'll be happy here. I you are from Raleigh and you disagree please let me know.

My Skin Care Regimin

Daily
Every morning when i wake up i take care of my skin in the shower:
1. After pre-rinsing face i exfoliate with Classics TX - Normal/Combo - Exfoliant that i got from my facialist. It is important to exfoliate every morning to create a smooth template for your makeup. (Hint: before i hop in the shower I rub a little bit of Vaseline on my lips, the warm water helps lock in the moisture and keep my pucker super soft all day long!)
2. Next I cleanse my face and neck with Aveda outer peace foaming cleanser.

3. When I get out of the shower I blot my skin dry with a soft cotton towel.

4. Once my skin is dry I apply ultra sensitive faceblock spf25. It's tinted so I don't look too pale and it protects my skin. Bonus: safe on my uber-sensitive pale skin.

5. Apply Makeup :)

Every night i take my makeup off and prepare my skin for 8 hours of rest
1. First I get my skin as wet as possible.

2. Then I use Aveda outer peace foaming cleanser and splash my face and neck with water 10 times to rinse properly.

3. I blot my face dry with a soft cotton towel

4. Then I apply Murad Acne Spot Treatment as needed. It works great and immediately reduces redness. A little goes a long way folks don't be tempted to just rub it everywhere!

5. Next comes the moisturizer. I use Murad Skin Perfecting Lotion. Again not too much just a thin layer over my face and neck.

6. Finally right before i get into bed i put a little bit of Vaseline under my eyes to prevent wrinkles and on my lips to make them super soft
Monthly
I try to visit my facialist at least once a month. It is relaxing, a great treat for your skin, and a good way to get some great tips from a pro!! If you can't afford to go every month at least go every three, it's very important, like going to the doctor for a physical, or taking your car in for a tune up. Remember the skin is the largest, most visible organ in your body, as well as the largest excretory organ, you should keep it clean!!

Diary Entry 3/31/08

So I went to North Carolina over spring break and i left my computer in airport security. The school came and picked it up for me, the little darlings, and they took the liberty of giving it a bit of a tune up! well even though they got it on Friday the 14 they kept it until Friday the 28! ridiculous! It was OK because i got it back for my project due Friday, until i found out that they deleted EVERYTHING off of it! I had to cram all weekend to get it done for today i hate when i cant do anything about something
stay beautiful <3 Caitlin
